Upgrades and uninstall
Migrate explicit schemas and remove Capture Studio without deleting shared or customer data.
package.json is the sole product-version authority. Project, sequence, profile-catalog, and capture-evidence schemas advance independently. Capture Studio backs up a saved asset before migration, performs explicit known migrations, and refuses to reinterpret an unknown newer schema.
The traditional installer stages complete package directories and replaces stale versions rather than merging files. It journals and backs up the prior state, verifies exact installed bytes and Package Manager registration, and restores on failure. Modified or identity-mismatched installations require an explicit repair decision.
Uninstall removes only Capture Studio by default. It preserves shared Kiwi Release Core, other Kiwi products, Studio Project assets, relinked and imported media, output profiles, rendered outputs, evidence, recovery data, and rebuildable caches. Remove those separately only after reviewing their contents.
Profile catalog changes are independent from product upgrades. A newer product does not silently migrate a project to a newer profile catalog. Use the explicit update check and review the exact diff.
